Director of Photography
Having been enthralled by behind the scenes footage from a young age, Christel’s love for moving images journeyed through watching what was captured by others, past photography and finally arriving on set, living out what she’s been fascinated by.
Originally from Singapore, Christel moved to Melbourne in 2013 to pursue filmmaking at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). She continues to maintain a strong visual aesthetic as a director of photography who firmly believes in editing a film in its preproduction stages before beginning its photography.
Known for pushing the cinematic limitations on student films, she pays rigorous attention to detail and work ethic throughout the production. She believes that the relationships and atmosphere on set translates directly to what is seen by the audience on screen. This is her fourth collaboration with Alex Wu.
